Backdrop Farmers Market

The Backdrop Farmers Market is not really a farmers market. Rather, this is just a sample website built for instructional purposes. You can spin up a copy of this site at https://simplo.site and use it as a sandbox to learn about Backdrop CMS, or you can modify it and make it your own. Just change the content and configure it to meet your own needs. 

We are creating a series of video tutorials that will walk you through the process of creating a site just like this one, step by step. By the time we are finished, we will have video and text documentation for everything that you see on this site. 

Some of the features that we've included in this site are:

  • Stacked Panel Front Page - We built the Opera theme specifically to provide a powerful and flexible tool for building websites with that use a "stacked panel" front page. 
  • Vendor Directory - This site has a dynamic database driven directory of vendors. This directory is built with the views module, which is one of the most powerful features in Backdrop CMS. 
  • Testimonials - The testimonials block on the front page is a easily downloadable recipe that quickly adds functionality to your site. 

The idea for using a Farmers Market was inspired by our colleagues in the Drupal community who used a Farmers Market as the primary case study for their Drupal 8 User Guide.

The Backdrop CMS Farmers Market is virtual market of ideas and tools to help you build your own website. But, we encourage you to look up and visit a real Farmers Market in your own community. Farmers Markets are a great opportunity to buy locally sourced fruits and vegetables for a healthy lifestyle.

We love your pets, too, but they are not allowed under our covered shelter because we have food we are sampling and selling.  Service dogs are the exception.
